http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewsr.html?pid=29813 Schmitt Bio: Award-winning NASA astronaut/geologist Dr. Harrison H. “Jack” Schmitt, former NASA Advisory Council Chair, flew on the Apollo 17 and “assisted in the integration of scientific activities into the Apollo lunar missions and participated in research activities requiring geologic, petrographic, and stratigraphic analyses of samples returned from the moon by Apollo missions.” Schmitt, who has also worked for the Norwegian Geological Survey and for the U.S. Geological Survey, has received numerous awards in his career including the Space Center Superior Achievement Award and the NASA Distinguished Service Medal. Schmitt is a member of the Geological Society of America, American Geophysical Union, and American Association for the Advancement of Science.
