10 Jan 10 - Early Floridians call it “extraordinary white rain.” The rest of us call it snow. The rare snowfall was "only the 17th such event in modern history to ever hit the state in January," says this article on Yahoo. The good news is that it is helping remove iguanas and pythons, which are not indigenous to the area. On Friday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission put out a press release urging hunters to use the cold to help them find and "harvest" the pythons, which are likely to come out of their hiding places and find sunny spots in order to bask in the sun. “The more pythons removed, the better,” says Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Gabriella Ferraro.
