19 Nov 07 - About 20 vehicles got stuck in snow near Bewdley, Worcs, as up to four inches of snow fell across most of the West Midlands during the evening.
A police spokeswoman said the snow had caught the
motorists by surprise. Derbyshire's Peak District was the worst affected, but snow also fell in Shropshire, Warwickshire, Bedfordshire, Leics, Birmingham and Sheffield. In Shropshire up to 4,000 homes were left without power and up to two inches of snow fell in Northamptonshire. See entire story: "Nobody saw it coming other than the late forecast last night (which by then was only a few hours before it happened and they said there was only a "chance of snow", says UK reader Hans Schreuder. "Of course this is being down-played by the media, as it does not fit in with their warming agenda!"
