Icebreakers can’t keep up
- 5 Jul 06 - Aging American icebreakers are having trouble getting through an
unusual ice build-up in McMurdo Sound.
New Zealand 's Scott Base and the American McMurdo Sounds station are
serviced by sea through
McMurdo Sound. "Without ship access you can't get
fuel," said New Zealand Antarctic Institute chief executive Lou Sanson.
